This saddens me, Deviantart is becoming more and more like photobucket and image search engine... D:
Gives me another reason why I love browsing MORE in pixiv than in here... orz
I was looking for cool One Piece fanarts here in DA, but most of them are traced arts copied straight from PIXIV as well. D:
How can you learn to draw if you always trace huh?? D:<

I can't believe I'm saying this but drawing is passion! Where's the emotion and feeling if you just trace what you draw?
In my opinion, there is no perfect art. Everyone has their own styles, and they excel in their own. If you have ONE favorite artist you admire most, I think you should try to follow and surpass him. In that way you can see how your skills will grow...

I admit, most of the time I feel depressed because I think I'm not improving at all! I keep on drawing and drawing but I feel nothing's happening. But when I read one part in a manga, the Hero said "instead of moping and whining there the whole time, you should stand up and work harder!" woah. that hit me so hard. XD :lol:

If you like the arts in Pixiv so much, PLEASE DON'T TRACE THEM. D:
Make them as your inspiration.

thank you. :D

Super duper agree! I may not be the best drawing artist in the whole wide world, but i knew to myself that i have my own style.. I didn't trace anybody's work. :) When i draw i have lots of stories on it.. my soul was on it... :) And I'm very proud for those artist "the real artist" whose enhancing their talents... not by tracing or what, but do their drawings with their heart.. You can copy their drawings as your reference but not totally do this all the time... Think that it was a healthy competition for everyone.. inspire people and dream big! We are all have a different style in drawings don't try to compare it with others because they are much better than you.. Just be positive and always practice ! :D (Big Grin) :D (Big Grin)

The saddest of all are those "OCs" *cof Mary Sues cof* poorly drawn using bases. They even say they've spend a lot of time doing those drawings when the only thing they've done is put some bad drawn clothes and hair with Paint :no:

whoaa what for real?? D8
i havent browse for (fanart) pics at DA for ages; the only thing i look for at DA are the stock photos for ref. poses - & never more than that ^^;
msadagal Featured By Owner Apr 5, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
haha! I seldom browse here in DA, but most pictures I see are traced orz
but I look for reference poses on pixiv nowadays, very reliable XD
MasamuneRevolution Featured By Owner Apr 5, 2013  Hobbyist
& oh~? pixiv have ref. pose thingy? :O_o: why i dont know? OTL
tho i love those for free pattern at pixiv tho XD;
msadagal Featured By Owner Apr 5, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Yes they do! Pixiv have tons of refernces and tutorials too xD too bad i dont understand kanji orz
MasamuneRevolution Featured By Owner Apr 5, 2013  Hobbyist
ah~ i see XD
but i usually (used to) depends on real life photos of person doing whatever poses; so i dont think Pxv have that kind of ref. so i still go to pxv for fanart purpose & DA for ref. pose

It's worse that da has a section just for traced items.

I love this!! I love this Quote!! can I use it in my journal ! >> "There is no perfect art. Everyone has their own styles, and they excel in their own."

who say you are not improving! I can see your improvement every year but now every month! you can see the different in Ophir cover! the first cover was awesome and the last one is become stunning!

and PLEASE!! I realized that people are copying the post from pixiv or anime and that annoyed me! I don't comment on it and not agree about it :doh: ! they have to try draw by their hand and create their own pose to express their feeling while drawing even if they do the same ! it's still special !

but DON"T LEAVE DA because of this !! delete this project in your mind please!! >__<

I have nothing against tracing as practice. Its actually a good way to learn how other artists draw and to get some experience drawing various elements, including posture, proportion, perspective etc. I do agree that tracing something then claiming you just drew it normally is a bad thing to do. Its lazy and shameful to do so.
Nirozozo Featured By Owner Apr 4, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
You're totally right and that traced artist gets most of the credit at times instead of the actual artist, which is so unfair to the real artist. However tracing is just another a way to help you learn to draw if someone can't draw but is passion about drawing, even in Pixiv I've seen traced drawing so its everywhere, so not everyone is perfect at drawing at first which is why they trace first and then slowly do their own art, it takes time for someone who just a beginner, it took me two years to get where I am though I have done my own art but also have traced a few but my own colouring and style.

i have stopped using reference photos for some times
maybe every once a while ill look but usually to see thier details
Like the type of hair and stuff lol
But i mostly receive help from tutorials o 3o;;

Do you know some searched in "One Piece" in Pixiv?
Kanokawa Featured By Owner Apr 4, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Yeah, it's very urksome seeing that one picture that's completely traced among a lot of hard work. Nowadays, you'll see so many people profit from it, it's ridiculous. I just try to ignore it and move on. That works best for me!
Amyarine Featured By Owner Apr 4, 2013  Student Artist
I trace to improve my hand's steadiness and ability to create smoother lines, but I rarely post them, I like to look and draw from other's art but give full credits to the original picture if I do post it. I feel the most proud when it is something I have completed myself. Art is my pride/passion and i'm not really all that good at it.
Marimokun Featured By Owner Apr 4, 2013  Student Traditional Artist
I haven't searched on DA in a while, but most of the time I don't find much that I like. I should search PIXIV more. o3o

As for the tracing thing, I agree on what you said. But I also used to trace other drawings, mainly to help me get down how to draw the figure in different poses. But I haven't done that in years now. I have learned to develop my own style(s) as well as my own poses and whatnot. That's what being artistic is about I think. :)
Sumoka Featured By Owner Apr 4, 2013
not going to lie, i trace A LOT because i learn from memory and from doing, but i will never upload them to DA, and if i do it would be in an art dump and not an individual piece
but i get where your coming from and understand what you say
